After a bad experience in Maine with a bear guide 10 years ago, I was a little hesitant to come back to Maine. Through luck I learned about Eastern Ridge Adventures. It was one of the most rewarding hunts I have been on. Being in the hunting business, I know what to expect from a top quality Guide Service, and man, I found one! This year was the first time my wife, Jenifer, accompanied me. I was a little nervous bringing a woman into bear camp, not here though! Josh and his staff showed the utmost respect for her and catered to our every need. Lodging, food, and hospitality were top notch! Shooting a good bear was a bonus with the great experience my wife and I shared. Hats off to Josh and his crew and thanks for taking care of Jennifer and myself. God Bless!

Josh, All I can say is "Thanks for a great time and a great Hunt." I just wanted to drop you a note and say thank you again for your great hospitality and your outstanding guide service. You and your team are second to none when it comes to hunting black bear in Maine. From your Sunday's Steak and Lobster welcome dinner in your new Lodge - to you and your guides going over trail cam pictures of the stand that you'll be hunting in the afternoons. There's nothing like waking up in your lakeside cabin and being able to do some small mouth bass fishing in the morning before your Bear Hunt in the afternoon. It would be an understatement to say that our crew were completely satisfied with every aspect of our hunt. Josh and his team are clearly professionals and gentlemen. It really makes for a thoroughly enjoyable experience when the guides make intelligent conversation, share the same passion for hunting and the outdoors with the hunters, and conduct themselves in an ethical manner. Eastern Ridge Adventures is THE place to hunt Black Bear in the US! Located near Machias, Maine and run by Josh Rhodes, I call it "the best run outfit in the Northeast" The meals are fantastic and the lodging consisted of beautiful summer cottages on the lake. The key to a successful hunt is the right guide. Ours, Terry, was a real pro and worked multiple sites tirelessly to ensure our best chance of success. Josh runs a well organized outfit from sighting in your weapon, to well executed bait sites, to great food and lodging, and even tracking a wounded bear through the swamp for miles until well after midnight! I highly recommend Eastern Ridge for your next hunt!

My wife, Rachel, brought up the idea to take a trip to Maine for a hunt / vacation. Finding Eastern Ridge Adventures to make the trip possible was perfect for us both. We were provided with beautiful accommodations on Bog Lake for the perfect get away. We were taken care of 1st class the whole trip. The guides efforts and ERA's service rate right up there with any guided hunts we have been on. They put a lot of work into making sure our hunt and stay were enjoyable. The hunting was the bonus as baits were active and well maintained. Through the guide teams efforts we were rewarded with a successful hunt. Thank you to the Eastern Ridge Adventures Team.

I had the extreme pleasure of hunting with Eastern Ridge Adventures, and let me tell you they are awesome to hunt with. Josh is a true professional with top notch equipment and an excellent knowledge of Maine Bears. The guides at Eastern Ridge Adventures take great pride in making your hunt successful and enjoyable. I could immediately tell sites were active by how tore up they were and I was able to take a nice bear with my bow. Josh allowed me and my cameraman to use our climb paw system to get in and out of my tree. He was very accommodating during the entire hunt. Josh and his guides will do everything possible to help you succeed with friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service. I have hunted and fished through out North America- Eastern Ridge Adventures are the real deal!

Eastern Ridge Adventures had the privilege of having Al Raychard, an Editor for Bear Hunting Magazine, hunt with us in 2006.
